The Irish newspaper The Irish Mirror published a story on Monday morning reporting the death of a man who had been trapped inside a building for two hours after a series of bomb threats.
It said a number of people had called the emergency services and that the man had been taken to a local hospital.
A number of police cars and a helicopter were seen at the scene of the incident in the city of Clonmel.
The Irish Government confirmed that it was investigating the incident.
Police were seen leaving the building after the threat was made, and the number of calls to the emergency number remained at around 150.
It comes after a man was found dead in a house in the Clonmoy area of Dublin, while a woman in her 20s was found with serious injuries in the same house.
The man, who is understood to have suffered serious head injuries, has been named locally as Sean Conlan.
